5 great ways I spend my evenings at home

An evening at home can be just as fun and enriching as an evening out. I thought I would share 5 good ways you can spend the late evening hours at home.

You have decided to hold a home evening, but what are you going to do? You want to spend the evening pampering yourself and getting comfy at home.

HERE IS 5 DIFFERENT WAYS YOU CAN SPEND AN EVENING AT HOME.

WATCH A MOVIE

Watching a movie is always a sure winner for those lazy evenings on the couch. Put on one of your favorite feel-good movies and allow yourself to relax completely - you deserve a good movie after a hard day's work.

RAISE YOUR COOKING SKILLS TO NEW HEIGHTS

Take advantage of your evening hours to improve your cooking. There is nothing better than delicious meal food. I love trying out new cooking projects, but sometimes I don’t feel I have had the time. The time is now.

Cooking does not have to be a complicated or time-consuming project. With the right ingredients, the right equipment, and a good cookbook or recipe, you get far. At least I believe I can.

BEAUTY RITUAL FOR INCREASED WELL-BEING

Even tough beauty comes from within, but there are still several routines that can work wonders - and best of all contribute to a feeling of well-being.

I spend my evening hours on a de-stressing bathing ritual. I usually start by dry brushing my skin. Dry brushing is one of the big beauty trends right now, and with good reason - it both reduces and prevents orange peel, ingrown hairs, and dry skin, and all you need is a good dry brush.

After dry brushing my skin, I usually de-stress with a comfortable warm bath and finish with an emollient body lotion. If I have time for a little extra self-pampering, I finish with my favorite face mask.

LET CREATIVITY SPIRE

I sometimes spend the evening hours at home exploring my creative side. There are many ways to be creative. Whether you are writing a poem, drawing, or letting the pen shape everyday thoughts or new goals, keep in mind that this is your free space. It is most of all about immersion in what makes you happy. Unfolding creatively - whether by drawing or writing - can have a therapeutic and de-stressing effect.

TIME FOR MEDITATION AND ENLIGHTENMENT

The art of meditation has good side effects no matter what time of day you practice it. The most optimal time for me is after dark when the day draws to a close. Meditation is a great way to round off the hectic workday and enrich body and mind with zen before bedtime.

Exercising attention can be done in many different ways. A good tip is to have one focal point for your inner gaze and calmly push other thoughts away from that focal point. I’ve tried this a lot, but I usually just feel asleep. There is a sea of apps that give you a guided meditation, which for many, helps to keep the attention, either on the breath or other focus points. My favorite is Calm.

Meditation has been shown to have long-lasting effects that give you a more positive mind and a better concentration - and best of all, it can be done in just 5 minutes with so-called minimum meditations.
